Designer

Erik Magnussen, born in Copenhagen (1940), is internationally renowned for his unique designs, which are often described as both elegant and highly functional. He graduated as a ceramist with the highest distinction, a Silver Medal, at the Danish School for Applied Arts and Design. Erik Magnussen has received numerous awards throughout his distinguished career, including the Bindesboell Medal, the Lunning Prize, the Danish ID Prize (multiple times), and Designer of the Year. He has also been Knighted by the Danish Royal Court in honor of his unique and lasting contributions to modern design. Most recently, he has been awarded the British distinction HRDI, Honorary Royal Designer for Industry, which less than 100 designers hold worldwide. His work is represented in numerous museums worldwide, including; MOMA in New York and the Danish Museum for Art and Design in Copenhagen. With this collection, his first for U-designs, Erik Magnussen’s sense of quality and aesthetics is clearly articulated, as he took the best leather available to create beautiful and functional pieces of art to enjoy everyday.
